Just for the Summer

Written by: Abby Jimenez

The story follows two characters happen to be stuck in the same constant loop of dating a person and that person meeting the love of their life immediately after their breakup. When discovering each others' dilemma through social media, the two characters agree to date each other to hopefully cancel out their alleged curse. They agree to a relationship "just for the summer" encompassing all of the things they have done in previous relationships. However, like all fake dating occurrences, their situation gets a bit messy. This story has everything you could ask for in a cutie romance with a deeper meaning. Jimenez demonstrates feelings of love, friendship, childhood trauma, adult problems all in one fantastic story that will have you giggling and crying all in one sitting.

This was such a quick and easy read because of how effortless it was to be held captive in Jimenez's writing. This book will have you laughing and crying in all the best ways, kicking your feet at the adorable romance that takes place between the two main characters and falling in love with the story as a whole. As someone who does not always enjoy present day technology such as: TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, etc. showing up in the books I'm reading, it was easy to look past it for this novel because of the way in which Jimenez incorporates it in. I loved this book with my whole heart and will always take an opportunity to talk about it and recommend it to others!

Pushing the Limits

Written by: Katie McGarry

I first read this book in Junior High and thought it was the best thing ever. It held my attention, was greatly written, talked about hard and real topics, and made me fall in love with the characters form start to finish. This novel follows Noah and Echo, two high school students that have faced their fair share of trauma and, now, have to learn how to overcome it. Echo and Noah start out as enemies, being in completely different social groups, but are forced together when Echo needs money to fix her late brother's car and Noah is the student she is paid to tutor. The two embark in a friendship, and later a relationship, in an effort to help each other uncover the demons that haunt Echo and plan a way for Noah to get his family back. This path is not easy, especially when the two believe that they are the only ones able to help the other. Pushing The Limits puts readers on an emotional roller coaster, lasting the entire duration of it. It is also written in dual point of view, which offers readers an inside view of both main characters' thoughts and issues in a more personal manner. McGarry has a wonderful way of immersing readers into her stories and making them feel as though they are in real time with the characters.

I absolutely adore not only this book, but every book that McGarry has written. It has been amazing to see her grow as an author while I grow as a reader and her writing style has only improved. While this book, in my opinion, is aimed to younger audiences, I do still thoroughly enjoy coming back to this book and re-reading it whenever I can. It is a great novel to get one into reading or pull one out of a reading slump. McGarry also has books geared for more mature audiences in her newest series, The Witches of the Isle. I cannot recommend her, or her books, enough to anyone looking for a quick read that pulls on the heart strings.

The Fine Print

Written by: Lauren Asher

The first book in the Dreamland Billionaires series was different than what I had expected when going into reading it. I heard great things about this book and author through "book-Tok" and friends and couldn't wait to read it; however, the plot was not exactly what I thought it was going to be. The plot followed the youngest of three brothers, who were set to inherit a piece of the family business, and a spunky employee. After the boys' grandfather had passed away, each of the three grandsons were given a task to complete before earning their share of the company. Rowan was forced to go to the amusement park and figure out a creative way to renovate the park for the upcoming anniversary. He, then, is introduced to one of the hair and makeup artists. When hearing her ideas for the park, he promotes her to being one of the creators, only he doesn't realize his feelings for her until it's too late. Mistakes are made and hearts are put on the line when these two are forced to come together and make a plan for the park's renovation.

While I did enjoy this book and loved the author's style of writing, it was a little weird to read about it considering the idea was very similar to Disney World. I wasn't expecting it to be a story like that and have many of the same factors that the Disney company has, just with a different name. In that respect, I was not a very big fan of the book. However, I loved the two books that follow this one and the story, overall, is very good. I really enjoyed Asher's writing style, as it was an easy read, but also encompassed many of my favorite components in a Romance novel. I love the characters and the chemistry between the two main characters. I also really enjoyed the plot of the book, even though the topic was a little hard to get behind at first. I would still recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance story and has a love for Disney. The other two books in the series are not as closely related to Disney World and are good enough to make reading the first one worth it, if the Disney idea is unappealing.
